Green Energy Centres Get a Bite of the Green AppleArticle date: 25.05.10
Dorset company Green Energy Centre, has just scooped a highly coveted award, in recognition of its efforts to promote positive energy initiatives that are ecologically friendly to communities in Dorset. The Green Apple Award, now in its fifteenth year, is coordinated by the Green Organisation, and is an annual campaign run worldwide, that rewards its lucky recipients for environmental best practice. For Green Energy Centre, this prestigious award has come from their tireless efforts in promoting energy saving tips, educating communities on renewable energy technologies and generally spreading the word on how to care for the world of the future. From their advice to home owners who want to take advantage of the recently introduced ‘feed-in’ tariff (an initiative that could earn a home owner up to £900 a year if they install their own solar panel or wind turbine) to their popular Green Energy Bus, which travels to schools in the area and offers practical advice on saving energy to the next generation, Green Energy Centre has undertaken a great deal of work to receive the highly coveted and important award. Danny Godfrey, owner of Green Energy Centre is absolutely delighted that the companies’ efforts to promote a variety of energy saving initiatives has been rewarded with the Green Apple Award and is determined to continue spreading the word wherever possible. “We’re really pleased that our work has been recognised and it’s a real honor for all our team here, who feel that we’re working together and within the community to make the world a better place now and for future generations”. Launched at the end of 2009, the Green Energy Centres have made a huge impact in Dorset already and they plan to keep up the good work by offering advice to everyone on how they contribute to damage done by their carbon emissions, but also how they can reduce and repair that damage. The Centres in Ferndown and Christchurch are interactive and educational showrooms that demonstrate greener renewable technologies for the home. Visitors can learn about renewable energy products such as ground and air source pumps, photovoltaic panels, and low energy lighting, as well as calculate their own individual carbon footprint. The only difficulty for the team at Green Energy Centre now, will be deciding whether their Christchurch showroom, Ferndown showroom or the Training Centre will get to display the handsome Green Apple Trophy they will receive. |
