‘Green Bus’ Set To Help Our Children Save Energy

Article date: 09.03.10

Green Energy Centre Training BusGreen Energy Centre will be hitting the road to take their practical advice and solutions to youngsters across Dorset and UK. By introducing themselves to schools they’ll reach the generation who could face some of the early problems caused by the constant overuse of carbon based energy supplies, but make green energy more accessible and fun with the bus.

Similar to the Green Energy Centres in Ferndown and Christchurch, the bus is kitted out with practical energy saving solutions, and is designed to help young people explore all the ways in which they can become greener by reducing their own carbon footprint.

Children will have the opportunity to see and learn firsthand about the renewable energy technologies that are being used. Managing Director, Danny Godfrey, said: “It’s about educating the next generation of adults on how to live a greener life. Today’s young are likely to feel the effects of global warming, and it’s important that they know exactly what they’re dealing with, and how to tackle it.”

Inside the Green Energy Centre Training BusLaunched at the end of 2009, the Green Energy Centres have already made a huge impact in Dorset. Concerned about climate change and lack of fossil fuels, Danny Godfrey is intent on showing people how they can use renewable energy, and how each individual contributes to the damage done by their carbon emissions.

The Centres are interactive and educational showrooms that demonstrate greener renewable technologies for the home. Visitors can learn about renewable energy products such as ground and air source pumps, photovoltaic panels, and low energy lighting, as well as calculate their own individual carbon footprint.

Danny Godfrey hopes to encourage the rest of the UK become greener by opening a further six Centres around the country. He will also continue to build upon integrating environmental awareness into our children’s education by encouraging secondary and further education establishments to visit the Centre.
