The environment and green issues it seems have been left up to each and everyone of us to do our bit. Whereas the Copenhagen Summit failed to spark any inspiration, The Green Energy Centre in Dorset has begun to show the UK what one man can achieve with a passion and a vision. 2010 is guaranteed to be an exciting year for The Green Energy Centre.
The Green Energy Centre, an interactive and educational showroom demonstrating greener renewable technologies is the creation of Danny Godfrey, Managing Director of Warmerhome Southern Ltd and set up in partnership with Dorset Energy Advice Centre and Boyland Joinery. Concerned about climate change and dwindling supplies of fossil fuels, Danny Godfrey understands that renewable energy products and education on reducing carbon footprints is increasingly important in today’s changing world. Given the choice, Danny believes that most people would prefer to use greener technologies, ‘The problem is that renewable energy systems in the past were not made visually or fi nancially accessible to the general public, I wanted to tackle this issue head on and so invested my own money to set up the unique and revolutionary Green Energy Centre.’
Towards the end of 2009, Danny Godfrey celebrated with the opening of two Green Energy Centres to the public, (Christchurch and Ferndown) along with a buzz of excited press and media coverage. Danny commented, ‘This year we are looking forward to receiving an increased volume in the number of visitors to the Centres.’
Visitors are welcome into the Centres to learn about green renewable products, government financial initiatives and grants that are available, as well as being able to experience fi rst hand products such as ground and air source pumps, photovoltaic panels, to low energy lighting, along with being invited to calculate their carbon footprint.
2010 is also set to be the year of education. The Green Energy Centre has recently bought and refitted a ‘Green Energy Bus’. Schools will be offered the opportunity to receive a visit from the Green Energy Centre Bus so that children will have the opportunity to see and learn fi rst hand about the renewable energy technologies that are being used. Secondary and further education establishments will also have the option to visit the Centre and use the conference room facilities to further their understanding of renewable technologies in today’s world.
Danny Godfrey’s vision isn’t restricted just to the Dorset area, he has big plans, not only to be at the forefront of the Renewable Technology industry, advance the cause of looking after the environment and engage the customers on a new level but, he plans to open a further six Centres around the country and continue to build upon the education links.
With Britain and the rest of the world already in the grip of abnormal weather patterns, there is certainly a call for more and more individuals to take up greener initiatives rather than rely on the government to take lead.
